Nature lovers will wax poetic about the majestic wonders of trees while a capitalist might see them as a way to make money or as an obstruction to land that can otherwise be profitable. Apart from their beauty, presence, and in some cases food and wood production, trees can do so much more for humans. In the series of books, the Ringing Cedars of Russia, trees, specifically Siberian pine trees, are utilized again and again in unexpected ways.
1. Tree of Remembrance – Anastasia, a wise woman in the Siberian taiga advises people to plant a tree for every member of the family. Plant one when someone is born and plant one for each ancestor that has passed, if you want them to return as a protecting energy. A person visiting their dedicated tree will receive more healing benefits than from a random tree.
See post about planting a tree for the ancestors here.
2. Grounding Energy – When a person is stressed out or in need of rest, sitting against the trunk of a mature tree can be re-energizing. In one scene Anastasia is trying to recover from some kind of energy attack which left her almost unable to move. She sits at the base of a tree to recover her strength and manages to regain enough energy to walk to the lake nearby where she fully recovers.
3. Family Tree – Planting a Family Tree when establishing a permanent home is another way to strength family bonds. It is an opportunity to tell stories over a long period of time and preserve important family memories. A family tree can be planted in a pot before the home is established and, according to Anastasia, the sapling will aid its caretaker in manifesting their dream home.
4. Information Conduit – A mature tree can act as a way to gain information similar to the way an antenna functions. A person can enhance their own abilities to download information from the cosmos by touching the tree and asking it to help find the answer to a specific question or solution to a problem. One can also communicate with loved ones with the aid of the tree. The answers usually come in the form of intuitive feeling or thoughts.
5. Spiritual/Emotional Aid – Let’s not forget that the entire series is called the Ringing Cedars highlighting the properties unique to the ancient Siberian Pine trees’ ability to influence the mood of a person even after it is dead. The wood harvested from these trees have beneficial properties that were not fully explained in the books except to say that it could regulate a person’s emotional (and possibly physical) state to one of well-being and balance by way of its stored cosmic energy.
There is so much about the benefits of trees to humans that we do not yet know or understand. Perhaps we have just forgotten what was common knowledge in ancient times. It would be nice if science did catch up to spirituality and that the mechanisms by which these properties operate were actually understood.
But Anastasia says don’t worry about how it works, just use the tools we’ve been given to co-create a space of love. That is enough to accelerate human evolution, whereas picking the pieces apart in search of explanations will just slow us down to a standstill. Maybe we should go sit under a tree and think about that for a while.
