Painting: Event on Pier 63

Reid Stowe painting

This 10’ x 16’ painting is titled Event on Pier 63. Its name comes from one layer out of many layers that make up the painting. The first was done in 1984 and hung for a few events in a NYC night club. Then it was rolled up until 2002 when it was painted over with the names of artists in the cultural event I curated in Manhattan. Once again it was rolled up until I got back from the 1000 Days sea voyage in 2010. I water-pooled colors over everything and then in 2013 water-pooled it again. It took two more sessions in 2014 and 2015 to complete the painting. Too many layers of life to describe.
